I have the following error message when I try to open up certain assemblies:
"Internal Error: Invalid status 0x248
This part has internal inconsistencies, please report to GTAC "
Could someone please let me know what is the problem and how to fix it.
I am not able to open these assemblies.
I am using V20.
Thanks
I am surprised that your link manager settings does not affect the situation. Are you sure the part files are in the same folder that the assembly file? If "container" is the first item in the linkmgmt.txt file then the assembly should still find the files. (Same is true of sub assembly files.)
There is another tool you can use to change the paths internal to the files BUT BE VERY CAREFULL when using this tool and first test it out so that you make sure you understand what it does.
1. Open View and Markup (also known as Insight Connect) (c:\program files\solid edge v18\program\icnct.exe
2. Go to Tools > Link Mangement > Redefine links.
You will need to say which folder your project is located in and state the old path and new path. Again - think twice before using this tool as there is no undo. Backup your work before using the tool.
Consider giving Esteq a support to assist you with moving your assembly.
It is important to make sure that UAC (user account control) is switched off on Windows 7 and Windows vista when installing Solid Edge.
UAC denies the installer full access to the computer and consequently Solid Edge does not install correctly. Usually the PDF printer (i.e. the Save as PDF function) fails to install.
Hi all
I'm happy to have found this forum considering most of the time i do a google i can't find much on SE.
Anyway lets cut to the chase i have v18 installed and i need to move files that i created, because i created them in the wrong location. I have checked the link manager file settings and what i change makes no difference to the fact that the system cannot find the file even if i place the parts in the same directory as the assembley. Is there a way to move the files to my new location so that the assembley can generate the new link or do i have to make copies of the files rename them and replace the parts?
I am experiencing a similar problem trying to install ST2 on windows 7, I have tried the SECleanup utility but it still says a previous version is installed! Any clues?
I solved it!!!
I had to disable the User Access Control (UAC) by going into control panel, action center, change user account control settings, and then oving the slider down to 'never notify'. This followed by a re-boot and re-running the SECleanup utility has now allowed me to re-install without the error message.. Think I just need to re-enable UAC once installed and all should be good.
The link below contains sneak info about SE ST3

You are probably using Vista or Windows 7. The UAC (user account control) prevents the Solid Edge installer from running all the necessary programs to install Solid Edge - spesifically the PDF printer.
Solution:
Long way - Uninstall & Reinstall Solid Edge with the UAC turned off.
Short way - Copy the PDF printer drivers files in c:\program files\solid edge st2\printerto your printer driver folder. (you can run a program c:\program files\solid edge st2\program\driverlocator.exe in a DOS window to find out which folder you should copy these files to) Now run the program c:\program files\solid edge st\program\PrinterInstaller to register the printer in windows.
I presume you are talking about the pattern command inside the sketch enviroment inside the Traditional Assembly environment? The purpose of the pattern command (pattern object) inside the assembly is not to pattern sketch elements, but rather to enable you to create a pattern objects that you could you to pattern parts / sub assemblies.
Lets say I want to create a hall with chairs (like a school hall), then building could be one part (or sub asm) a chari could be another part (or sub asm). If I want to pattern the chair layout (i.e. create a thousand chairs in the hall) there is no underlying pattern in the hall. The way I can pattern the chair is to create a pattern object in a sketch in the asm and then use it to pattern the chair.
Can you please better describe what you are trying to do.
1. Which version of Solid Edge are you using?
2. Which maintenance pack / service pack are you using?
3. What platform are you using? (Windows version?)
4. What hardware are you using? Processor, Memory, Graphics card?
5. Which environment are you in? Part / Assembly / Draft?
6. What tool bar / menu bar are you trying reposition and how?
Remember that you can contact your reseller or Esteq (if your are in South Africa) or your local VAR (if you are located outside of Africa).
Windows Vista and Windows 7 have a functionality called UAC or User Account Control that elevates or demotes the account rights that the current user has. This is done in order to limit the rights that a software program has so as to stop malicious code (i.e. viruses). This is problematic for the Solid Edge installer as the installer runs separate programs to copy the files, register dll files, etc. – which cannot be successfully completed due to UAC blocking the installer from running these programs.
1. Switch off the UAC. (search UAC on Google to see how to do it) and REBOOT your computer for the settings to be implemented
2. First get rid of the failed installation by running a file called SECleanUpAll.exe which is located in c:\program files\solid edge st2\program\ or on the installation disk e.g. d:\solid edge\spt tools\SECleanupAll\This program deletes the registry entries created on the previous install.
3. Reinstall the software.
4. Turn UAC on if you really want it on.
I have just upgraded Solid Edge to the x64 version. I have found that I cannot translate a
dft to a PDF file. Looking at the installed printers screen I am missing the
"Solid Edge Velocity PS Printer 2.0" printer which was installed when I had the previous version.
I tried running "Printerinstaller.exe" but it made no difference.
Any suggestions how to get this feature working?
on the right side where your prompts are like for drawing and other things are gone ive tried pulling them back up but each time solid edge crashes every time its like it has a memory problem but ive tested every thing i can think of edge keeps crashing for no reason or being unresponsive if anybody has a fix it would be much appreciated cause ive done everything i can think of to try to resolve this issue ive put an attachment to this to show what command bar is gone
When you use an assembly sketch, how do you pattern an entity, eg a line or a circle? It will let you create the pattern but does not let you select the entity to pattern. Is this possible?
Okay so I now have an new AMD turion 64 laptop with Vista(hmmm?) Installed ST2. Installation stopped somewhere. Rebooted. Tried again, now it gives me this error (see attached file). I tried running SECleanup and removing all registry entries in could find and rebooted several times after each step. Still the same problem. Please help with what I am missing here. Kind regards. Neill
Use the quick bar option once you selected the plane. Refer to the attached pic.
I converted an old traditional part in to an ST part. I want to do a sketch on a spesific plane and created the plane. However, the place is too small to position and orientate properly. Is there a way to resize the plane?
Thanks.
There are a number of reasons why your templates are not visible.
1) User profile (ST vs Traditional)
2) You may not have access to the templates path (Happens especially on Windows 7, Vista - switch off UAC and see if this solves the problem)
3) Your templates path may be setup wrongly
My preferred way of working is to keep the default template path and simply to copy my personal/company templates into the default templates path (c:progam files:solid edge:templates)
I am not fully aware of what you are trying to do, but maybe it will help if I clarify the purpose of the rotation lock. Rotation lock is used when you want to lock the the rotation of a part that has been constrained via axial align. Rotation lock then rotates the part into the 0-degrees position.
If you need the part at a different angle, I would suggest using an angle relationship between a surface on the part (or its reference planes) and a surface on the assembly.
Also: what works well when using the flash fit is to rotate the part into a good position BEFORE dragging it into the assemble. (Move your mouse over the part preview and hold the mouse wheel down. Now move the mouse and the preview will rotate. You can now drag and drop the part from the list above into the assembly and it will keep its rotation.)
I can force this to happen, when installing Solid Edge in a Fresh install 1) Select New 2) The default User templates are visible 3) Got File Location ( There are no templates set in the Path but the templates are visible) 4) Select User Profile 5) Change User type to Traditional and Synchronous
In assembley I bring in a part. While using flash fit I rotate the part to the position I require.
I then mate faces holes etc. When I then use rotation lock to lock the part in the position I require,
The part reverts back to its original position.
Any Ideas??
Regards
Flash
If you’re using Solid Edge or another 3D CAD system and are interested in exploring designing with synchronous technology, this is the place to start. These materials will help get you going.
