This tutorial will show you how you can use part painter combined with textures to transform the part on the left in to a more presentable part as shown below.
Solid Edge version used in this example: V20 How to do this:1. The part and images used can be downloaded by right-clicking on this link and selecting the "Save Target As..." option. Save the .zip file in a proper location and extract the files using WinZip or another program. If you have Solid Edge V20 or later you can directly open the part file, otherwise you can import the .x_t parasolid file into a part. ![]()
4.On the New Face Style dialogue box enter a name for the new texture. We are setting a the wall textures, therefore we name the face style "01Walls". ![]() 5. On the Texture tab of the same dialogue, use the browse button and select the walls.jpg image. Make sure that the texture is opaque and scale the picture down to 0.7. Press ok to close the dialogue box. ![]() 6. On the Style dialogue select Blue face style and press the new button again to create another texture for the floor. Enter "02Floor" for the name of the style. Under the Texture tab select the floor.jpg image. Set the scales to 0.3 and press ok to close the window. ![]()

![]() 10.We will now setup the doors. Use the sketch tool ![]() 12. Use the tear-off sketch command ![]() 13. Use the split face command ![]() 15. The last is to make the inside walls behind the doorways transparent by using part painter and the style "White (clear)" so that the inside walls become see-through. We have hidden the sketches and planes to tidy up the image. Use "File > Save As Image" to save the current view as picture. ![]()
